Arizona Coyotes at Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks snapped their four-game skid in their last game beating the Coyotes, who have lost five in a row.

The Coyotes have dropped their last five games where they have only scored four goals with two of them coming in the last game. The team sits in sixth place in the Western Conference 12 points back of the first place Golden Knights and five points clear of the Ducks. The Arizona offense has sputtered as of late and has been the main issue for the team on the season, as they are only averaging 2.33 goals per game.

The Ducks had lost four in a row before beating the Coyotes in their last game. The team is still in the basement of the West, but they have won eight of their last 10 home games facing Arizona. Anaheim has not been a good team on either side of the ice this season but showed some moxie in the win over the Coyotes in the last game after losing their previous one 8-4.

The home team has won the last four games between these teams.

Strong Start, Bad Finish

In the 3-2 OT loss to the Ducks in their last game the Coyotes grabbed a quick 2-0 lead after only 7:07 into the game but were outscored 3-0 the rest of the way and gave up the game-winning goal only 47 seconds into overtime. Conor Garland and Clayton Keller each scored their ninth goal of the season in the losing effort where Arizona was outshot 31-25. Adin Hill (1-3-1 2.09 GAA) gave up three goals on 31 shots and he has given up three goals in each of his last four starts. he has started the last two games and with Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta each injured he will probably get the start in this game.

Three players lead the Coyotes with nine goals including Garland, who also leads the team with 24 points. he not only scored in the last game but had an assist after going scoreless in five straight games. Arizona is 5-6-1 on the road this season and dating back to last season they have lost 24 of their last 32 road games.

Offense is Showing Some Life

Even though the Ducks rank second to last in the NHL averaging 2.23 goals per game they have totaled seven goals in their last two games. In the OT win over the Coyotes in their last game Jamie Drysdale and Trevor Zegras each scored their first goals of the season in regulation and Adam Henrique scored his eighth of the power play to win the game in OT.

Ryan Miller (3-4-1 3.47 GAA) gave up three goals on 25 shots and that was much better than his previous start where he was lit up for seven goals. #1 G John Gibson is on IR, so look for Miller to get another start in between the pipes.

Max Comtois has nine goals and is the only Ducks’ player with over seven goals and he has not lit the lamp in his last eight games and has failed to register a point in his last five games. Rickard Rakell leads the team with 21 points and he had two assists in the last game against Arizona while not registering a point in his previous four games.

The Bottom Line
What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet

I see this game being played out exactly like the last game where it will be close and the Ducks will come out on top. They have fared well at home in the last couple of seasons facing the Coyotes and I look for that to continue. Arizona has only scored a grand total of four goals in their five-game losing streak and do not look for their attack to bust out in this game. Anaheim has scored seven goals in their last two games and they will score multiple goals in this one while playing solid defense. On home ice the Ducks will win this one and send the reeling Coyotes to their six straight loss.

Ducks +105

Full-Game Total Pick

I picked the Under in the last game and am picking the Under in this game. This despite the fact that in the last eight games between these teams the Over record is 5-2-1. Both teams will not crush it on offense and why would they, as neither has done so all season. Anaheim gave up two quick goals in the last game and held the Coyotes scoreless the rest of the game. Their D will be the key in this matchup, which may go extra time again, where there will not be a ton of shots or many goals, which is why the Under is the pick.
