An Eastern Conference team and a Western Conference team will face off against each other on Tuesday as the New York Knicks travel to the Vivint Smart Home Arena to take on the Utah Jazz. New York enters this game with an 8-10 record after losing to Portland on the road by three points in its last game while Utah enters this game with a 12-4 record after beating Golden State at home by 19 points in its last game. This game will start at 9:00 P.M. EST.

New York Looks To Get Back On Track

The New York Knicks have been slumping a bit lately as they are in the middle of a two-game losing streak including a three-point road loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in their last game. In that game, New York’s defense struggled as it allowed 116 points while letting the opposition shoot 47.0% from the floor. That lackluster defensive performance was rather surprising since the Knicks are allowing just 103.6 points per game. Now, New York will be looking to snap its losing streak with another road game up next. Luckily, the Knicks already defeated the Jazz earlier this season so they have what it takes to get the job done on Tuesday.

Leading the Knicks offensively is forward Julius Randle who is averaging a team-high 22.7 points per game along with a team-high 11.3 rebounds per game. In addition, he is averaging a team-high 6.1 assists per game as he has been extremely selfless with the basketball.

Following the road loss to Portland, New York coach Tom Thibodeau discussed how difficult it was for his team to come back from a massive deficit in the second half.

“Quite a big hole. We expended so much energy trying to get out of it and at the end we fell short.”

Utah Looks To Extend Its Winning Streak

The Utah Jazz have been the hottest team in the entire league lately as they are in the middle of an eight-game winning streak including a 19-point home victory against the Golden State Warriors in their last game. In that game, Utah’s offense was great as it scored 127 points while shooting 40.0% from the three-point line. In addition, the Jazz recorded an absurd 69 rebounds as they dominated the glass for all 48 minutes. Now, Utah will be looking to extend its winning streak with another home game up next. Luckily, the Jazz have won five of their first seven home games as they have looked extremely comfortable at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

Leading the Jazz offensively is shooting guard Donovan Mitchell who is averaging a team-high 24.3 points per game along with 5.0 assists per game. However, he is also averaging a team-high 3.2 turnovers per game as he has struggled with his ball security up to this point.

Following the victory against Golden State, Utah coach Quin Snyder credited his team’s defense for the recent winning streak.

“We want to defend collectively. I think our guys are seeing it collectively. It’s not one guy’s job. Every guy has to do the job.”

The Bottom Line
What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
Rating:

While the Knicks have been a surprisingly mediocre basketball team, the Jazz have quietly been one of the best teams in the entire league so I think that this game should be a bit ugly over these 48 minutes. Utah ranks fifth in the league in terms of offensive efficiency while New York ranks 25th in the league in terms of offensive efficiency so I expect the Knicks to struggle scoring enough points in order to cover this spread. Plus, Utah has won each of its last three games by at least 11 points as it has been demolishing teams lately. As a result, I expect the Jazz to win this home game by at least 13 points.

Prediction:
Utah Jazz -11

Full-Game Total Pick
Rating:

Both of these teams have been playing fantastic defense all season long so I think that this total is a bit too high. Utah ranks fourth in the league in terms of defensive efficiency while New York ranks sixth in the league in terms of defensive efficiency so I expect both teams to struggle scoring consistently over these 48 minutes. Plus, New York ranks last in the league in terms of pace while Utah ranks 21st in the league in terms of pace so I expect both teams to run their respective offenses within the halfcourt which will eat up a lot of clock. As a result, I think that there is some value on the under.

Prediction:
Under 212.5

Half-Time Side Pick
Rating:

Utah has been on fire lately having won each of its last eight games while New York has lost each of its last two games so I think that the Jazz should be able to get off to a fast start at home over the first 24 minutes of this game. Utah has the better offense and defense according to efficiency so I expect New York to fall behind rather quickly in this contest. Plus, Utah ranks first in the league in terms of rebounding rate while New York ranks 11th in the league in terms of rebounding rate so I expect the Jazz to generate enough second chance points in order to cover this point spread.

Prediction:
Utah Jazz 1H
