The San Antonio Spurs host the red-hot New York Knicks Tuesday night at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, beginning at 8:30 pm EST. The Spurs are favored by 2.5-points, down from 3.5-points at the opening, while the total stands at 218.5-points.
The Knicks enter this contest winners of 3-straight after taking out the Detroit Pistons at home in their last outing Sunday night as they relied on a solid team defensive effort along with a strong offense that shot 50% or better from the floor as well as from long-range. Julius Randle led the team yet again with 25 points while going 3-6 from deep while RJ Barrett continued his hot-shooting making 8-13 from the field (2-4 3FG) to post 21 points to lead the offensive charge. New York was also able to cover as 1-point favorites for the 2nd-straight game and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games.
The Spurs have won 3 of 4 games and were able to atone for a road loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder February 24th to pick up a 3-point home win over the New Orleans Pelicans last Saturday as the Spurs were able to step up on the defensive end in the final minutes to hold off the road team and pick up their 17th win of the year. Offensively, San Antonio boasted a total of 6 double-digit scorers led by leading scorer DeMar DeRozan, who recently returned to the lineup after missing their contest versus the Thunder due to a family death. The Spurs were able to cover as 2.5-point dogs versus the Pelicans and have also been hot against the number as of late going 5-2 in their last 7.
San Antonio has picked up wins in 8 of the last 10 meetings versus the Knicks, including 3-straight overall. The Spurs have also won 5-straight at the AT&T Center versus New York. And while each have split the spread in the last 10 meetings, the Knicks have covered in 3 of 5 roadies versus the Spurs.
Barrett-Randle combo continues to shine for Knicks
The Knicks recent inspired play has propelled them to 3rd in the Atlantic stands as they are currently a game above .500 after beginning the season on a shaky note. Randle has continued to put up big numbers while the emergence of maturity from Barrett has done wonders for a Knicks team that has been in a rut for quite some time. “On the first unit they’ve found some chemistry together,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said to the New York Post of Barrett and Randle. “They’re reading the game well, playing the game unselfishly. They’re tied together at both ends of the floor. The way they’re playing is very, very good.”

The defense for the Knicks have also been on a roll as they enter this game allowing 106 points in their last 7 outings. In fact, New York is ranked 1st in the NBA in points allowed per game along with opponent field goal and 3-point percentage. In fact, in their last 5 meetings at AT&T Center, they have only given up an average of 107 points during this time.
Important to note that these teams have not met since November of 2019 when the Spurs were able to prevail as 7-point road victors. In this contest, the Knicks shot just 43% while nailing 15 treys with Barrett along with Randle combining to go just 1-7 from long-range on the night. On the other hand, Barrett shot 6-11 from the floor to post 13 points while Randle struggled (6-17 FG) with 14 points along with 4 turnovers.
Spurs get 30+ from DeRozan in win
DeRozan posted 32 points while dishing out 11 dimes for the Spurs in their win over the Pelicans while Dejounte Murray along with Lonnie Walker IV also chipped in 18 and 17 points, respectively, in the slim victory. However, yet another good sign for the Spurs was LaMarcus Aldridge posting 21 points in 23 minutes off the bench on 50% shooting as he was able to make all 10 of his free-throws in the contest. With the win, the Spurs were able to put a bit more space between them and the 2nd-place team in the Southwest division in the Dallas Mavericks.

However, San Antonio will now look to utilize their balanced scoring attack versus a Knicks team that has shined on both ends of the floor as of late. Despite this, the Spurs have posted some big numbers offensively versus New York in recent meetings in Texas, including scoring 119 points or more in 2 of their last 3 at home.
In fact, San Antonio shot 53% as a team along with connecting on 12 3-pointers in their last matchup versus the Knicks as Aldridge and DeRozen led the way with 23 and 21 points on efficient shooting nights. Patty Mills also scored 17 off the bench while going 5-5 from 3-point range as the Spurs shot 52% in this area in the 7-point win.
- Spurs are 2-4 ATS in last 6 home games.
- Knicks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
- Knicks are 3-1 ATS in last 4 road games.
- Knicks are 8-2 ATS in last 10 games.
The Bottom Line
What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
I happen to like the way both of these squads have played as of late. However, I must say that due to the fact that the Knicks are 3-1 against the number in their last 4 roadies while also covering in 3 of their last 5 at AT&T Center makes me lean on behalf of New York in this contest. Furthermore, the Spurs have been less than stellar at home against the spread recently failing to cover in 4 of their last 6 outings. In all, look for New York’s solid defense to keep this contest close as the road team will cover the points while possibly winning outright.
New York Knicks +2.5

Full-Game Total Pick
The under is 4-0 in the last 4 road games for New York in addition to being 4-1 in the last 5 home games for the Spurs. Again, the defense for the Knicks have really impressed this season and I expect this play to continue throughout this contest. Besides, the under has also been the play in 3 of the last 5 meetings between these 2 squads.
