Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics

 

We have an Eastern Conference NBA matchup to consider for Sunday when the Miami Heat meets the Boston Celtics for the second time this season. Miami is 4-4 on the season and enters this contest coming off of a 128-24 away win over the Washington Wizards. Boston is 7-3 this season and is riding a four-game winning streak when they host the Heat.

Heat Defeat Wizards

Miami has had an interesting season thus far. Jimmy Butler has been in and out of the lineup with an assortment of maladies and offseason acquisition Avery Bradley has been solid on both ends of the floor. Bam Adebayo has been very good on both ends of the floor and leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.4 points per game with a team high 7.9 boards and Butler has a team high 5.3 assists per game this season. Meyers Leonard is listed as questionable for this contest.

Miami failed to cover a -10.5 point spread but did beat Washington by a score of 128-124. Tyler Hero led the way with 31 points and nine rebounds, Butler added 26 points with ten rebounds and nine assists while leading scorer Adebayo chipped in with nine points and 16 boards for Miami.

The Heat rank twelfth in pace this season while averaging 108.5 points and allowing an average of 109.6 points per game. Miami has played the sixth toughest schedule this season according to Dunks and Threes with a fourth-best True Shooting Percentage of 59.2 percent and snags 21 percent of its offensive rebounding tries this season.

Celtics Covid-19 Issues

Boston is on a roll and has won four consecutive games with a team of young stars like Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown leading the way on a nightly basis. Kemba Walker hasn’t played yet this season but offseason acquisition Tristan Thompson and 2020 first-round draft choice Payton Pritchard have fit in nicely and Pritchard hit what turned out to be the winning shot against Miami. Tatum leads the team in scoring, averaging 26.9 points, Thompson leads the team in caroms, and Marcus Smart leads the Celtics in assists this season. Tatum and Thompson are out for the next couple of games while Brown is listed as questionable for Sunday.

Boston won its fourth consecutive game with a 116-107 home win over the Washington Wizards and covered a 3.5 point spread as home favorites. Tatum led the way with 32 points alongside five rebounds while Brown added 27 points alongside 13 rebounds and five assists for a solid home win over the Wizards.

The Celtics play at the sixteenth fastest pace in the NBA this season and score an average of 113 points and allow an average of 111.2 points per game. Dunks and Threes rank the Celtics schedule as the fifth most difficult thus far this season. Boston ranks thirteenth in True Shooting Percentage (57 percent) and yanks down a fourth-best 30 percent of its offensive rebound chances this season.
