The Los Angeles Clippers will travel to the State Farm Arena on Tuesday night to take on the Atlanta Hawks in an inter-conference matchup. The Clippers are 13-4 on the season and are riding a seven-game winning streak with a 108-100 win on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Hawks are 8-8 and are coming off a 129-115 loss in Milwaukee against the Bucks on Sunday. This game is going to be interesting as the sportsbook adjusts to the news that Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Patrick Beverley will all be ruled out for this game.

These teams have been similar statistically this season so it will be interesting to see how they attack. Let’s take a deeper dive into this game and figure out where we should be placing our wagers as this game gets more interesting.

Power Serge

Center Serge Ibaka has been one of the solid pickups during the offseason. He is averaging 12.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, a block, and 0.3 steals in 24.9 minutes on the court. He needs to improve his shooting numbers as he is 54.2 percent from the floor, 37.2 percent from the three-point line, and 82.1 percent from the free-throw line. In his last game against the Thunder, Ibaka played 22 minutes and finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and an assist. He will need to have a bigger output in this game with key players missing this game in Atlanta.

The Los Angeles Clippers have a solid defense in the league at this point as they are giving up 107.2 points per game, which ranks 4th in the NBA. In their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, they allowed 100 points on 42-of-95 (44.2 percent) from the floor, 7-of-35 (20 percent) from beyond the arc, and shot 14 free-throws. If the Clippers can figure out to guard players on the wing, it will be a solid game.

Young and the Restless

Point guard Trae Young has been one of the best young players in the league. He is averaging 25.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 0.7 steals in 33.3 minutes on the court. He needs to improve his shooting numbers as he is 41.1 percent from the floor, 34.4 percent from the three-point line, and 86.8 percent from the free-throw line. In his last game against the Timberwolves, Young played 31 minutes and finished with 43 points, four rebounds, five assists, and seven turnovers. He didn’t play in the last game due to back spasms and he is considered day-to-day so he should dominate if he’s able to play.

The Atlanta Hawks have an average defense in the league at this point as they are giving up 110.1 points per game, which ranks 11th in the NBA. In their last game against the Milwaukee Bucks, they allowed 129 points on 50-of-91 (54.9 percent) from the floor, 10-of-31 (32.3 percent) from beyond the arc, and shot 27 free-throws. If the Hawks can figure out to limit the easy baskets taken against them, they should be in a good spot here.

The Bottom Line
What to bet on this game.

Rating:

With all the key players missing this game for Los Angeles, it will be tough for the Clippers to figure out their offense. Leonard and George were the two players who can score and guard the wings and Patrick Beverley took over in the second unit. Atlanta should be able to shoot the ball more effectively and control the game. Expect a blowout victory for the Hawks in this game.

Prediction:

Rating:

The Clippers are averaging 114.8 points per game on 48.5 percent shooting while the Hawks are averaging 112.4 points per game on 44.3 percent shooting. With Los Angeles losing 58 points due to the three players missing this game, it will be difficult for them to figure out how to replicate it in their first game without all three. The Hawks should shoot well and keep it interesting but the Clippers don’t have enough weapons to get close to the total number. Go with the UNDER here.
